The Chamber of Commerce of Buenaventura, is an institution that cares for the social, economic and cultural development of its people, through important investment programs aimed at strengthening human talent and education as alternatives to achieve this. Buenaventura is a port city, with great natural wealth because of its location in the Colombian Pacific; however, it has significant levels of poverty, unemployment, insecurity and lack of human resources training.
Acute situations such as unemployment, behind the Chamber of Commerce to implement programs that contribute to find solutions that strengthen the society, providing training opportunities, leading projects and programs that strengthen the business plan for different social levels.
Buenaventura has an economy framed in micro, small and medium enterprises MIPYME for its acronym in Spanish(micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas), which allows to know that its economic and social reality is not the best in terms of employment and production, however, it is necessary to aim the programs at Directorate for the Promotion and Development to strengthen MIPYMES.
Thus, the 2009 Work Program of the Department of Promotion and Development is aimed at the academic training to a group of micro entrepreneurs, in order to engage them in the work of creating new businesses, doing regular monitoring providing the necessary tools to sustain their businesses.
On the other hand, we must lead the traders and businessmen training , according to the need showed by the Business Census, held in the immediately preceding year.
OBJECTIVES
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The Chamber of Commerce of Buenaventura is a guild non-profit organization with public functions that promotes regional development, therefore, has the social responsibility to report on their actions, events and activities to entrepreneurs, traders and wider community.
SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• Provide the business sector, business and the wider community, timely, adequate and efficient information on the activities and services provided by the Chamber of Commerce of Buenaventura.
• Create an adequate environment that contributes to the success of institutional programs.
• Give the MIPYMES sector social and economic alternatives that contribute to its strengthening, through training programs, such as forums, seminars, workshops, conferences, symposia, etc.
• Affiliate merchants and offer preferential service.
• Represent the Chamber of Commerce in support to social events in order to achieve better sales and earnings, continuity in the performance of the operation to maintain good relations with public, private and academic organizations and spread to the commercial and business sector a corporate image framed by the social purpose of the institution.
• Promote events such as commercial showcases, with the aim of promoting economic growth in the commercial and business sector.
• Identify training and development needs of the different activities of traders and businessmen.
• Define and implement training, promotion and development programs, in coordination with the Directorate for Economic Studies and Social Management in order to create better access to credit by traders and businessmen.
• Provide advice to traders and businessmen in areas related to the affiliation to the institution.
• Promote and organize cultural and social activities for the population of traders and businessmen in coordination with the Social Manager.
